Making an end grain chessboard

Making an end grain chessboard

It was not a cutting board, it was a real chessboard. The board was made of walnut, maple and cherry.

Notice that the end-grain is what is eventually displayed. This make sense as the end-grain will not glue up as strong as the long-grain.

The technique only is shown here and hopefully it will inspire you to come up with your own.
