Build a Chunky Farmhouse Coffee Table

Dimensions

Materials List:
2 – 4x4s @ 8ft
1 – 2×4 @ 8ft
1 – 2×6 @ 10ft
1- 2×10 @ 10ft
1- 2×10 @ 8ft

Cut List:
4 – 4x4s @ 16″
4 – 2x4s @ 17″
2 – 4x4s @ 19″ ( 45 degree miter cut)
4 – 4x4s @ 8″ ( 45 degree miter cut)
3 – 2x6s @ 33″
3 – 2x10s @ 36″
2 – 2x10s @ 27″

Tools Used:
Kreg Jig K4 Pocket Hole System
Ryobi 18V Brushless Hammer Drill
Ryobi 15-Amp 10 in. Sliding Miter Saw
Bessey Clamps

Step 1:

Attach the 2×4 brace (17″) to the 4x4s (16″) using a Kreg Jig K4 Pocket Hole System on a 1 1/2″ setting, with 2 1/2″ pocket hole screws to attach along with wood glue. There should be a 2″ spacing from the 2×4 brace and the floor. Repeat step for the other side of the coffee table base.

Step 2:

Attach the top 2×4 brace (17″) to the 4x4s using a Kreg Jig K4 Pocket Hole System on a 1 1/2″ setting, with 2 1/2″ pocket hole screws to attach along with wood glue. The top 2×4 should be flush with the 4x4s. Repeat step for the other side of the coffee table base.

Step 3:

Attach the 4×4 brace (19″) to the 2x4s using pilot holes and wood screws The 4×4 brace should be cut at a 45 degree angle. Repeat step for the other side of the coffee table base.

Step 4:

Complete the X brace by attaching the 2 additional 4×4 braces (8″) to the 4x4s using wood screws along with wood glue. The 4×4 braces should be cut at a 45 degree angle. Repeat step for the other side of the coffee table base.

BEFORE CUTTING XS, MEASURE AGAINST YOUR ASSEMBLED SIDE AND MARK FOR BEST FIT/CUT

Step 5:

Assemble the bottom shelf by attaching the three 2×6 braces (33″) together using a Kreg Jig K4 Pocket Hole System on a 1 1/2″ setting, with 2 1/2″ pocket hole screws to attach along with wood glue.

Step 6:

Attach the bottom shelf to the bottom 2×4 braces on the two base sides using a Kreg Jig K4 Pocket Hole System on a 1 1/2″ setting, with 2 1/2″ pocket hole screws to attach along with wood glue.

 

Step 7

Assemble the coffee table top by attaching the 2x10s (36″) using a Kreg Jig K4 Pocket Hole System on a 1 1/2″ setting, with 2 1/2″ pocket hole screws to attach along with wood glue. Note: These boards were ran through a jointer/planer, so check your measurements before cutting breadboard.

Step 8:

Attach the 2×10 bread boards to the assembled 2x10s using a Kreg Jig K4 Pocket Hole System on a 1 1/2″ setting, with 2 1/2″ pocket hole screws to attach along with wood glue.

 

Step 9:

Attach the tabletop to the assembled base using 3″ wood screws.
